Content analysis

‘The Jungle Air Crash’ is a survival story written by Juliane Koepcke. It is an extract from her memoir ‘When I Fell from the Sky’, which is an international bestseller which describes in detail the horrifingg experience she had in the jungle, and her life before and after, and is a source of hope and inspiration for many.

1.       Warming up activity

Teacher engages in an informal
talk to create a rapport with the students.

2.      Introducing the content

Teacher gave a brief description
about the author,  Juliane Koepcke, and the story ‘The Jungle Air Crash’. It's a true account of a miraculous escape of Juliane Koepcke, who was a teenage when she boarded the Lansa aircraft with her mother on December 24, 1971. Teacher also shows the picture of the author using laptop.



3.      Reading and explaining the paragraphs

Teacher asks students to open
their textbooks and listen carefully. Teacher reads the paragraphs with proper stress, intonation and expression and also explains the meaning of the first two paragraphs.

4.      Follower section

Students are asked to follow the
reading pattern of the paragraphs silently with keen attention and mark difficult parts.

5.      Picturization

Teacher shows the pictures of
Ecologist, Ornithologist, rear, aisle and Stewardess and  check whether they could identify it.



6.     
Clarification
Teacher clarifies the doubts of
the students and explains the theme and meaning of the portion once again.

7.      Discourse level activity

Teacher asks the students to
write a profile of the writer,  Juliane Koepcke and also gives some hints to help them.
